As of this writing it’s July 31, and I am one month from moving in to my apartment. By the time you’re reading this it will be October, and I’ll know whether I got that job with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and will own one-third of my own apartment.
The wait is killing me.
Still, this has been a great year so far. Secret Operations now has 7 solid issues. That’s 28 pages of pure minicomic goodness that I’m sure you’ll enjoy, should you so choose. For those just tuning in, Secret Operations is a mini-comic consisting of one-and-done stories about superheroes facing everyday problems and existential threats alike. The characters are recurring, but there’s not a lot of continuity. It’s all pretty light and fun, though there are serious stories as well.
If you’d like to make an order, feel free to contact me through email, phone, or just by leaving a comment below, and we’ll talk pricing/shipping. Same for Bubblegum-Man, a more straightforward comic tale of a man transformed by science into living candy who defends the city of Atlanta from all manner of paranormal threats. It’s funny and exciting, and I think you’ll like it a lot.
In other news, as alluded to earlier, I’m waiting still to see if I passed the written assessment for a possible writing/editing job with Boys and Girls Clubs of America. If my writing is deemed appropriate, they’ll contact me for the panel interview. Passing that, I’ll have a new job! Which is really great because I already started my part-time tutoring job with C2 Education. So either way, I’ll be employed by the time you’re reading this.
As for my next novel, A Piece of Sky is still in the initial stages. I need to polish the outline then write up the first draft. That should all take about a year. Maybe less if I push myself. After that, I’ll do a read through and edit myself and turn it out for my critique partners to enjoy. Not bothering with beta-readers since I want to go traditional, and that’s what agents/editors are for. Once I get enough feedback from critique partners, I’ll write up a second draft, get a professional edit, write up the third draft and start submitting like mad.
In all the process shouldn’t take longer than 3 years. I’ll be forty by then, which isn’t bad for a first-time author if I do say so. Especially one who writes fantasy fiction for adults/young adults.
In the meantime, keep liking, sharing, and telling your friends all about how cool I am and how they should totally pick me for their kickball teams. Be seeing you.
May God bless you and your efforts!
I’ll share as much as I can.
